Trzcianka and Husum deepen their partnership
At the end of March 2025, an intensive exchange took place between representatives of the twin towns Trzcianka and Husum. The meeting aimed to foster international collaboration, strengthen civic engagement, and promote adult education through creative and participatory approaches.
The participants from Husum were actively involved throughout the diverse programme. In joint workshops, discussion sessions, and guided tours, they engaged directly with professionals from Trzcianka in the fields of education, culture, and community development. A wide range of approaches, projects, and working methods were explored—particularly within the city’s cultural centre and public library.
Interactive sessions offered hands-on insights into the daily work of librarians, course leaders, and cultural coordinators. Participants had the opportunity to take part in creative workshops, contribute to group discussions, and discover practical tools for working with youth and designing educational programmes.
The exchange with local organisations also featured a high level of participation. Various associations and grassroots initiatives presented their work—from environmental and sports projects to inclusive community activities. The participants from Husum shared their own perspectives, discussing parallels and differences in civic involvement across the two towns.
Beyond the programme’s educational aspects, cultural experiences played a central role. The participants attended several performances, including concerts showcasing regional and classical music, which created space for informal dialogue and cultural appreciation. A visit to an ecological centre included a hands-on workshop focused on sustainable practices and the everyday use of herbs—highlighting local approaches to environmental education.
A nature walk and visits to regional landmarks further enriched the visit, offering opportunities for informal exchanges and reflection. The meeting concluded with a shared review of the experience and concrete plans for future collaboration, including a return visit to Husum.
This exchange clearly demonstrated the vitality and potential of town twinning—showing how meaningful connections, shared learning, and cross-border cooperation can contribute to a more open, engaged, and forward-looking community spirit.
